Breathe, Just Breathe

A friend recently had a bit of ‘a deer in the headlights look’ when talking about how to use new media tools with their business. The chorus to the Anna Nalick song crept into my head, “breathe, just breathe…”

The best approach is to take it one step at a time. Write the plan – like I’ve said before the best first step is to take an overall look at your business or organization goals and attitudes of the industry, then devise a plan that is customized to your entity – and take one piece at a time. It is not likely to take off like wild fire, take the time to foster it and ensure everyone on your team understands the planned approach and end goals.

If you have a large amount of video footage, then start there. Edit the content to make it short, interesting and compelling, develop the plan to share it online – through the website, the blog, social networks? Identify your target audience and have a plan to reach them.

Be open to change the plan as needed along the way, what you thought would pan out at the starting line might not look the same as what gets you across the finish line and that’s ok. Once one piece is in place, move on to the next.

Don't forget to breathe.
